In recent years, economies are switching from the traditional linear economy to a new model called circular economy where waste, instead of being wasted, will be turned into different kinds of resource. Implementing circular economy will help mitigate the risk of resources scarcity, address negative environmental problems and unlock global GDP growth of $4.5 trillion by 2030.

Realizing the importance of this new economic model in the promotion of sustainable development in Vietnam, VBCSD-VCCI has initiated to launch the Vietnam Program for Advancing Circular Economy. Among the very first activities of the Program is the Zero Waste to Nature Initiative that will be jointly implemented by VBCSD-VCCI, Unilever Vietnam International Ltd., Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam Ltd., and Dow Chemical Vietnam Ltd. and primarily target at the plastic waste. It is necessarily emphasized again that the Program activities will target various industries namely steel, cement, maritime, textile, etc. and flexible plastics waste is chosen for pilot activities prior to expanding to other sectors. Hence, businesses in different industries generally and other VBCSD members particularly are welcome to join the Program to promote the implementation of circular economy in a wide scale.

On the occasion of the Program launching, the VBCSD Secretariat would like to cordially invite all valued VBCSD members to attend and witness the MoU Signing Ceremony for Cooperation in Vietnam Program for Advancing Circular Economy.
