Dow Vietnam donates necessary medical supplies to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases and Dong Nai General Hospital

Hanoi, June 01, 2020 - Dow Chemical Vietnam LLC (Dow Vietnam) donated the necessary medical supplies to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, including: 1,000 pieces of 3M medical masks and 60 four-liter cans of hand sanitizers, which are worth over VND 100 million. This grant project was implemented by the Project Office of the Resources Exchange International Organization (REI) in Vietnam through the connection of the People's Aid Coordinating Committee (PACCOM) with Dow Vietnam. This is a meaningful program, with the desire to support the frontline hospitals to prevent and fight against Covid-19, helping the community health resilience and to join hands with the whole country efforts to effectively prevent and control Covid-19.

Next, on Friday, June 05, 2020, Dow Vietnam and REI will continue the program to donate necessary medical supplies including: 300 sets of medical protective gear (one medical cap, surgical coverall, gloves, surgical mask, safety glasses, and medical shoe cover) and 550 pieces of 3M medical masks with a total value of more than VND 90 million to Dong Nai General Hospital.

Mr. Ekkasit Lakkananithiphan, General Director of Dow Vietnam said, “Dow has been to Vietnam since 1995. We expect that the donation of personal protective equipment will help Vietnam successfully contain Covid-19.”

In addition, Dow Vietnam Team is also looking for ways to continue supporting their colleagues, neighbors and nations in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and easing the negative impacts as follows: 

  • Dow Vietnam - Dong Nai Coating Materials Plant took an initiative of “Charity Fund” to help the community mitigate the corona virus crisis: Dow Vietnam employees provided in-kind donations such as consuming goods, products and supplies to sell at the charity market of the plant. The fund collected from the selling goods is more than 18 million VND that will be used to buy rice and essential commodities. As a result, Dong Nai plant handed 120 parcels of gift over to the local district Nhon Trach Trade Union to aid the laid-off workers struggling to feed their families.
  • Workplace Giving Campaign: each Dow employee is encouraged to personally donate and contribute to COVID-19 relief efforts. In response, Dow Corporate launched a match program to double employee donations up to $150,000 to support local and global immediate relief and long-term resiliency efforts.

120 parcels of gift preparation to donate to the underprivileged and workers

Dow has been present in Vietnam since 1995. Dow Vietnam has implemented a diversity of programs in 2019 in order to maximize community, environmental and economic values for better people’s lives. In particular, these initiatives include the first asphalt road using recycled plastics in Vietnam; Beach clean-up activity in Vung Tau Beach with the participation of more than 450 people. The activity motivated the participants, their families and friends as well as the community in protecting the environment, sorting out waste at source and keeping the plastics waste out of the environment. In addition, Dow Vietnam also implemented “Dow Vietnam STEM Education Program”, “Building the Workforce of Tomorrow” and Donation to Vinh Thanh 2 Primary School in Nhon Trach, Dong Nai./.
