INSEE Vietnam joins hands to bring a new school to over 700 pupils in Kien Luong District, Kien Giang Province

As a part of community activities towards sustainable development goals, on the morning of 16th June 2020, INSEE Vietnam co-organized the ground-breaking ceremony to build Kien Binh 2 School for more than 700 pupils in Kien Binh Commune, Kien Luong District, Kien Giang Province.

Investing for education – a long-term vision 

Over the past 25 years of presence in Vietnam, INSEE Vietnam is constantly striving to expand its business as well as accompanying the sustainable development of localities. Recognizing the company's responsibility to the community and society, especially where INSEE operates, the company has sponsored to build Kien Binh 2 school project in Kien Luong District, Kien Giang Province accompanying the Kien Luong District People's Committee, Quality Assurance and Testing Center 3 (QUATEST 3), BASF Vietnam, and the design consultancy of GREENVIET - Green Building Consultancy, and Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC).

This project is not only of paramount importance to local community but also particularly meaningful to INSEE Vietnam. Mr. Philippe Richart, CEO of INSEE Vietnam said, “INSEE Vietnam always aims at sustainable and long-lasting values. The Kien Binh 2 school has a special meaning for INSEE because all three goals of community activities are expressed through this project, including providing education and learning for society, supporting infrastructure of communities and sustainable community development.”

More than 700 students will have a new school

The school is a complex project including a bridge, connecting transportation system and other school facilities including 24 fully equipped-classrooms, utilities, multi-purpose buildings, an administrative office building, and more, which helps more than 700 pupils from poor families, rural and ethnic minorities to have a more spacious and modern learning environment. Besides, with the goal of moving towards sustainable development, this construction, which is designed according to the green building criteria, fully uses INSEE cement and was awarded LOTUS Green Building Certificate at Gold level by VGBC. This is a recognition to encourage INSEE on the journey towards the green building community. 


Manufacturers Taking the Lead in the Circular Economy

As a long-term investor in Vietnam, INSEE strives to integrate sustainable development into its core business which brings positive impacts on prosperity, environment, and people in Vietnam. In particular, INSEE Vietnam is a pioneer in Green Manufacturing in Circular Economy focusing on reducing the use of raw materials and the self-production of energy in our process with the potential to recycle or reuse back into the manufacturing process. With the goal of making these processes more environmentally friendly, INSEE has invested in state-of-the-art technologies such as vertical roller mills (VRM) in our Hon Chong integrated plant, which consume about 20% less energy than traditional ball mills; waste-heat recovery power plant, which generates 25% of the plant’s electricity demands, indirectly eliminating approximately 25,000 tonnes of CO2 per year, equivalent to 9,300 tonnes of coal/year, etc. Besides, INSEE Ecocycle, the group’s waste management branch has treated safely and thoroughly almost 1.2 million tonnes of waste which being treated and put into use as alternative fuel to produce cement instead of traditional fuel. By the use of this waste, we have reduced more than 1 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions by co-processing in the cement kiln.

This is the fourth consecutive year INSEE Vietnam has received this recognition for its continuous efforts in

sustainability and the positive impact the company has created for Vietnam’s socio-economic development.

Dow Vietnam kicked off its first #PullingOurWeight Program in 2020

AES Mong Duong's CSR initiatives benefit 1,500 local children when they return to school in Quang Ninh province, Vietnam

Quang Ninh, 12 June 2020, AES Mong Duong announced its Back to School Support CSR program, which will benefit 1,500 students at the Mong Duong High School and Nguyen Trai Elementary School in Cam Pha city, Quang Ninh province, Vietnam. The support, worth nearly US$17,000 in total, includes the renovation of lighting systems and improvement of hygiene conditions. The package also includes a donation of digital equipment which will support the digital learning efforts of local teachers and students.

Dow Vietnam donates necessary medical supplies to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases and Dong Nai General Hospital

Hanoi, Vietnam, Monday, June 01, 2020, Dow Chemical Vietnam LLC (Dow Vietnam) donated the necessary medical supplies to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, including: 1,000 pieces of 3M medical masks and 60 four-liter cans of hand sanitizers, which are worth over VND 100 million. This grant project was implemented by the Project Office of the Resources Exchange International Organization (REI) in Vietnam through the connection of the People's Aid Coordinating Committee (PACCOM) with Dow Vietnam. This is a meaningful program, with the desire to support the frontline hospitals to prevent and fight against Covid-19, helping the community health resilience and to join hands with the whole country efforts to effectively prevent and control Covid-19.

Dow commits $3 million to aid COVID-19 relief efforts and adjusts manufacturing processes to produce hand sanitizer
