The initiative "Zero Waste to Nature"

In 2018, the Vietnam Centre for Circular Economy (VCCE) was established by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD), with the goal of implementing stronger actions for the Green Growth Strategy, realizing Vietnam's Sustainable Development and Paris Agreements at COP21. With the selection of the direction for the circular economy, VCCI-VBCSD wants to join the business community to seize market opportunities worth USD 4.5 trillion through the application of a new business model, in which the sources materials used with longer lifecycle, more durable value, and more economical.

Within the framework of VCCE's activities chaired by VCCI-VBCSD, the Zero Waste to Nature initiative is the first step towards solving problems arising from plastic waste, implemented through a combination of member companies including Unilever Vietnam, Coca-Cola Vietnam and Dow Chemical Vietnam. The signing ceremony for the initiative of ZWTN was carried out on January 23rd, 2018, the launching ceremony of the initiative was held on May 26th, 2018 in HCMC.

The focus in the first phase of the initiative ZWTN is the model of waste separation at source, which is piloted in Tan Phu district. By August 2018, the initiative has received enthusiastic support from local authorities (People's Committee of Tan Phu District, Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City, Department of Environmental Protection, Department of Education and Training HCMC ... ), in deployment.
